The Board of Trustees of The Council for NGOs in Malawi (CONGOMA) within their mandate as legal custodians and overseers of CONGOMA, would like to inform the member NGOs and the general public that pursuant to S50(2) of CONGOMA Constitution, Mrs. Kate Harawa, of Water for People, who until now has been the Vice Chairperson of CONGOMA Governing Council, will forthwith act in the office of CONGOMA Chairperson until the Chairperson is elected.

The foregoing follows the departure of the previous Chairperson, Mr. Steven Duwa from Pan African Civic Educators Network (PACENet) who has since assumed his duties as a Commissioner at the Electoral Commission after his appointment on same. As such, Mr. Duwa has left CONGOMA pursuant to S44(1)(b) of CONGOMA Constitution. In this regard, The Trustees, Governing Council and Management of CONGOMA deeply appreciate the leadership of Mr. Duwa and his contribution to the governance of CONGOMA during his tenure spanning from November 2017.

The Trustees wish well both the previous and incoming Chairpersons in their new responsibilities.
